Since this is a very new story (11/3/09) we will continue to evaluate the situation, and of course, keep you updated. Our clients that are presently on vetsulin will be notified. We will likely continue to use the vetsulin (the problem exists in those vials that are over 18 months since production, so we advise against using any vetsulin vials that are within 6 months of expiration). New cases will likely be placed on different insulin therapy until this is resolved.
PRODUCT RECALLS
Enalapril Maleate
ACE inhibitor that causes vasodilation. Enalapril can be used in heart failure or systemic hypertension (high blood pressure).
Vetmedin
Used in dogs with chronic congestive heart failure. Vetmedin helps the heart muscle pump more efficiently and has vasodilatory effects as well.
